ORGY OF THE DEAD

In gorgeous and shocking ASTRAVISION and SEXICOLOR!
The young couple Bob and Shirley is driving along an old deserted highway in the middle of the night looking for a creepy graveyard. Bob is a horror writer and he wants to find an old graveyard to get some more inspiration for his writing. Shirley thinks this is a bad idea driving around in the middle of the night, but Bob is determined to find a graveyard. Suddenly the car gets out of control and crashes into a ditch, rendering Bob and Shirley unconscious. As a strange coincidence, they crashed just by an old graveyard where strange things are happening. It seems that the Emperor of the Night and his evil minions are loose at the cemetery and the Emperor is making the dead dance before him for his amusement. As the dead girls are dancing topless before the Emperor, Bob and Shirley is regaining consciousness and decides to go over to the cemetery to investigate the strange occurrences. Before they manage to get their heads straight about the strange scene that meets them at the graveyard, the couple are captured by the Mummy and the Wolf man and taken before the Emperor. The ghouls tie them up and the couple is forced to stand and watch as more and more dead girls rise from the grave to dance topless for their Emperor. Slowly it dawns on Bob and Shirley that they have to escape before they are forced to join the undead fiends in eternity. As the Emperor and his Ghouls are making their plans to destroy the couple, the moon is slowly going down, and time is running out. Will Bob and Shirley join the ranks of the undead, or will they be able to make their escape before they are tortured to death by the Princess of the Night?

Written by the one and only Ed Wood, Orgy of the Dead is an unusual film experience. It starts out with atrocious dialogue by Criswell, followed by horrendously edited driving sequences and no night/day continuity, in other words, it starts of very well! But after the first two-three girls have danced and you’ve gotten that little kick from the Mummy and the WolfMan, there isn’t really anything else to look forward to in the movie. Granted, there is more incredibly bad acting and hilarious dialogue in the film, but as one girl after another creeps out and starts dancing topless, again and again… It gets kind of repetitive and boring after about 40 minutes or so. And then you’ve only got about 50 minutes left of the same thing all over again. Orgy of the Dead is at least worth watching once just because it’s hilariously bad and sleazy, but just don’t expect a masterpiece. But I could also see this movie growing on me a bit, as the film has a sort of numbing effect on the mind. So pick a night when you are in the mood for topless girls, lots of fog and laughable dialogue and give it a try. But don’t say I didn’t warn you!
